Another one of my personal long term projects was my 1987 Chrysler Conquest. (Taupe colored) Purchased new in 1987 by my father, it was passed on to me in 1992 and retired as a daily driver in 1996 because of an increasing number of unresolved issues. After a few years of work and research, it was brought back to life and now has about 138,000 miles on it.
The white 1988 Conquest (90,000 miles approx) belongs to my brother who has rebuilt his motor with forged pistons, 18g turbo and a number of other modifications.
Some Conquest history.... the wide-body version (which is what these two are) was manufactured from 1986-1989 in very limited numbers. The car is 100% Mitsubishi, but was resold under the Chrysler flag as the Conquest (in 1986 it was also sold under the Dodge brand as Conquest.) and sold by Mitsubishi under the name Starion. The power plant is a turbocharged 2.6 liter/4cylinder (176hp) with 12a turbo. (The Mitsubishi 2.6L motor (long-stroke) was originally designed for a diesel fork-lift.)
One thing to note is that is the original paint job (except for the hood, right fender and front-bumper)... not bad for a 37+ year old car.

Because so few of these cars survive today, keeping them running, (let alone upgrading) can be a rather difficult (and expensive) proposition. You can't order upgrade parts out of the Summit catalog for these babies, everything has to be custom made. Except for making the hard-pipes (turbo pressure side) and the exhaust piping, all work/design has been done myself. Modifications to the car include:
Below are pictures of the engine bay and other miscellaneous photos.
The last picture is what NOT to do with your car. As hard as it is to tell, it's a Starion....
